LONDON (Dow Jones)--Dow Jones Indexes launches The Europe Dow index Tuesday, which will track 30 leading blue-chip companies in the region, according to the same guiding principles as the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

The index is made up of nine U.K. listings, five French and German listings, and four Swiss. Spain and Sweden have two companies in the index, while Denmark, Italy and the Netherlands each have one company in index.

The 30 components of the index are: Novo Nordisk A/S Series B (NOBO-B.KO), BNP Paribas SA (BNP.FR), Vivendi SA (VIV.FR), Vinci SA (DG.FR), Schneider Electric SA (SU.FR), Total SA (FP.FR), Allianz SE (ALV.XE), BASF SE (BAS.XE), Daimler AG (DAI.XE), Siemens AG (SIE.XE), E.ON AG (EONGY), BP PLC (BP.LN), GlaxoSmithKline PLC (GSK.LN), Diageo PLC (DGE.LN), HSBC Holdings PLC (HSBA.LN), Rio Tinto PLC (RIO.LN), Vodafone Group PLC (VOD.LN), Tesco PLC (TSCO.LN), Anglo American PLC (AAL.LN), UniCredit SpA (UCG.MI), Unilever NV CVA (UNA.AE), Royal Dutch Shell PLC A (RDSA), Banco Santander SA (SAN.MC), Telefonica SA (TEF.MC), LM Ericsson TelephoneCo Series (ERIC-B.SK), Hennes & Mauritz AB Series B (HM-B.SK), ABB Ltd. (ABBN.VX), Nestle SA (NESN.VX), Novartis AG (NOVN.VX), UBS AG (UBSN.VX).

Stocks in The Europe Dow are weighted equally, unlike the DJIA, which uses price-weighted methodology and the index is calculated in U.S. dollars and euros.

Dow Jones Indexes is part of a joint venture company owned 90% by CME Group and 10% by Dow Jones & Co., a News Corp. company.
